Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has delved into the auction strategies of Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Delhi Capitals ahead of the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2026, analyzing their key selections and squad depth. Speaking on JioHotstar, Chopra highlighted the tactical advantage RCB acquired by signing Pooja Vastrakar, a rare fast-bowling all-rounder who offers unparalleled batting prowess compared to others like Renuka Singh Thakur and Shikha Pandey.
Chopra noted that although injury concerns surround Vastrakar, RCB's successful bid, despite competition from UP Warriorz, is a boost to their lineup. He also provided insights into Delhi Capitals' robust bowling unit, spearheaded by Jemimah Rodrigues' leadership. With players like Marizanne Kapp, Annabel Sutherland, and Nandini Sharma, DC's bowling holds promise, complemented by spinners Sneh Rana and Shree Charani.
The 2026 WPL, set to break tradition with its final on a weekday, commences on January 9. Scheduled across 28 days and two venues, Navi Mumbai and Vadodara, the tournament plans doubleheaders and crucial matches, including the final on February 5, for full spectator engagement.
