Viraj Sarawgi, an 11-year-old chess prodigy from Assam, recently achieved significant success in two FIDE-rated chess tournaments held in Italy and Germany. The young chess enthusiast gained an impressive 290 Elo rating points. His victories against high-ranking opponents highlight his exceptional talent.

11-year-old Viraj Sarawgi from Assam has made waves in the international chess community with stellar performances in successive FIDE-rated tournaments across Italy and Germany. The young prodigy accumulated a remarkable 290 Elo rating points, showcasing his burgeoning talent and skill on the chessboard.
Beginning his campaign at the Italian International Open, Viraj faced formidable competition among nearly 100 participants. Despite the challenge, he achieved 3.5 points and earned an impressive hike of 122 rating points by defeating multiple players with Elo ratings exceeding 1700.
Continuing his journey in Germany, Viraj competed fiercely in the Nordwest Cup's B Category Open. Here, he faced opponents with Elo ratings over 2000 and managed to secure an additional 161 rating points. Under the guidance of his coach, Srikanth Sarma Malladi, at the Mumbai Chess Centre, Viraj's dedication and performance have been nothing short of exceptional.
