Historic Launch of India's First Indigenous Semiconductor Facility
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Chairman of Tata Sons, N Chandrasekaran, initiated the Rs 27,000 crore semiconductor assembly and test facility at Jagiroad, marking India's first indigenous venture of its kind. The project aims to transform Assam's industrial landscape and create over 30,000 jobs.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran marked a momentous occasion, performing the Bhumi pujan for a Rs 27,000 crore semiconductor assembly and test facility at Jagiroad in Morigaon district.
This facility is notable for being India's first indigenous semiconductor assembly and test establishment, with rituals and hymns signifying the importance of the event. The Chief Minister also unveiled a 3-D model of the facility.
Envisioned to radically transform Assam's industrial landscape, the greenfield project aims to generate over 30,000 jobs and support critical market segments including AI, industrial, and consumer electronics.
