Internet Disrupted in Kamchatka After Land Cable Breaks
The Kamchatka Peninsula faced internet and mobile communication disruptions after a land cable break occurred. Local authorities are working on a temporary switch to satellite communication while repairs, estimated to take up to 12 hours, are being conducted. The cause of the break remains unknown.
On Tuesday, Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula experienced a significant internet outage and intermittent mobile connectivity due to a land cable break, as reported by state news agency TASS and confirmed by the region's digital development department.
The exact cause of the cable break remains unclear. The digital development department has initiated a 'temporary partial transition to satellite communication channels,' and repair efforts are expected to conclude within 12 hours.
Kamchatka, located in Russia's Far East, spans a land area comparable to Japan and is bounded by the Sea of Okhotsk, the Pacific Ocean, and the Bering Sea.
