Defence Giants Join Forces for Advanced UAV Development
Bharat Forge Ltd and VEDA Aeronautics have signed an MoU to develop advanced Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and aerial weapon systems for military use. The collaboration aims to boost India's defence capabilities by leveraging each company's strengths, focusing on microjet engine production for enhanced unmanned systems technology.

Bharat Forge Ltd (BFL) and VEDA Aeronautics (P) Ltd revealed their strategic partnership on Thursday, aiming to co-develop cutting-edge Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and high-speed aerial weapon systems for military application. The MoU was announced at Aero India-2025, signaling a significant step in defence advancements.
VEDA Aeronautics, known for its innovation in unmanned system technology, will collaborate with BFL, which will provide the crucial microjet engines for these systems. This partnership is part of a wider plan to enhance India's defence sector and promote self-reliance.
Guru Biswal, CEO of Bharat Forge's Aerospace Division, emphasized the alignment with India's 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' initiative. He highlighted the focus on locally developing jet engines, with thrusts up to 400 kgf, to power unmanned systems specifically designed for the Indian defence forces. Dipesh Gupta, VEDA's Managing Director, expressed excitement over the collaboration, which will involve using BFL's engines for all VEDA's defence projects.
