Previously, the Greater Noida plant has been known for manufacturing feature phones, smartphones, wearables, and tablets. By starting laptop production, Samsung aims to diversify its manufacturing operations, aligning with the Indian government's push for technological advancement.

Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw emphasized Samsung's continued expansion in India after meeting with Samsung Southwest Asia President and CEO JB Park, and Vice President SP Chun. The company, renowned for its mobile phone production, invests significantly in India, primarily recognizing local talent and innovation as driving factors.
