A tragic incident occurred in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district on Saturday, resulting in the loss of three lives and injuries to 24 others when a bus skidded off the road and plunged into a 200-foot-deep gorge, officials reported.
The accident took place near Bhatyas at around 10.30 am. The private minibus was en route to Thathri from Bhalessa. Upon arrival, rescuers found a woman dead on the spot while two more victims—a woman and the bus driver—succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.
The deceased have been identified as Basheera Begum, aged 50, Saleema Begum, aged 55, and the driver, Mohammad Asif, aged 25. The condition of eight injured individuals is serious, and they are currently being treated at the Government Medical College in Doda. Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh is overseeing the rescue operation, and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident.
