India's Infrastructure Surge: PM Modi Clears Major Metro and Airport Projects

The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved extensive metro expansions in Bengaluru, Thane, and Pune, and significant airport developments in Bagdogra and Bihta. The projects aim to enhance urban mobility and connectivity, with completion expected by 2029.

The Union Cabinet, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, has green-lighted multiple high-impact infrastructure projects, including metro network extensions in Bengaluru, Thane, and Pune, and airport developments in West Bengal and Bihar.

Bengaluru's metro will see the addition of Phase-3, adding 44.65 km through two elevated corridors at an estimated cost of Rs 15,611 crore. This extension is designed to enhance connectivity and reduce traffic congestion by 2029.

Thane and Pune will similarly benefit from new metro projects, aiming to decongest urban routes and integrate various modes of transport. Additionally, Bagdogra and Bihta airports will undergo significant upgrades to enhance passenger handling capacities and support local economic growth.
