The government has revised Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) guidelines for Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs), incorporating the Prime Minister's Internship Scheme as a common theme for the fiscal year, according to an official statement.
As part of their CSR obligations, CPSEs are now required to allocate 60% of their CSR budgets to initiatives centered around 'health and nutrition' and the PM Internship Scheme through 2024-25. This initiative, introduced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the 2024-25 Budget, aims to provide internships to 1 crore young Indians.
The internship scheme will commence as a pilot project on December 2, with an estimated expenditure of Rs 800 crore. It targets enrolling 1.25 lakh candidates in the current fiscal year. The government encourages private and public sectors to take significant roles in this program. Candidates must register by October 25 for selection processes to begin promptly.
