The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has initiated an investigation into Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation Ltd (TASMAC) amid allegations of market manipulation in the state's beer industry.
TASMAC, the sole liquor retailer in Tamil Nadu, is accused of favoring particular beer brands, potentially breaching Section 4 of the Competition Act, 2002, which addresses the abuse of dominant market positions.
The CCI has mandated that a report on the matter be submitted within 60 days, while reiterating that this preliminary order should not influence the impartiality of the investigation.
