In a significant boost to rail connectivity in Rajasthan, a new 17-km railway line connecting Ringas to the Khatu Shyam temple has been sanctioned, announced Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in a recent session of the Lok Sabha. This ambitious project is set to cost Rs 254 crore.
The Ringas station, which currently serves as the main rail head for the temple, is connected to Delhi by eight pairs of Mail/Express trains, with three offering daily services. The newly approved line aims to directly link Ringas and Khatu Shyam Ji, enhancing convenience for the numerous pilgrims visiting the temple each year.
Minister Vaishnaw highlighted that the current trains between Ringas and Delhi have seen an occupancy rate exceeding 100% in 2024-25 and 2025-26. Meanwhile, a proposed train route from Alwar, initiated in the 2013-14 budget, was stalled due to low traffic forecasts, although alternative connections exist via Rewari.
