Airtel's AI Initiatives Lead to Remarkable Decline in Cybercrime

Bharti Airtel's AI-driven anti-fraud initiatives have led to a significant reduction in cybercrime, with a 68.7% decrease in financial losses and a 14.3% drop in cybercrime incidents on its network, as confirmed by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre. The initiative affirms Airtel's commitment to creating a safe digital environment.

Bharti Airtel reported a major decline in cybercrime incidents, attributing this success to its anti-fraud initiatives. On Tuesday, the company cited data from the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), revealing a 68.7% reduction in the financial losses and a 14.3% drop in cybercrime incidents on the Airtel network.

Gopal Vittal, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Bharti Airtel, highlighted the company's mission to eradicate spam and financial fraud. Over the past year, the telecom giant's AI-powered solutions have identified billions of spam calls and blocked thousands of fraudulent links. Vittal emphasized ongoing investments and collaborations with authorities to enhance digital security.

Airtel's groundbreaking network-based AI-powered spam detection solution launched in September 2024, marked India's first such initiative by a telecom provider, and played a significant role in reducing spam and fraud. In May 2025, Airtel introduced a world-first solution to block malicious links in real-time. The MHA-I4C analysis underscores Airtel's commitment to protecting its vast customer base, which spans across 15 countries.
