One Year Later: Justice Delayed for Mumbai Bus Tragedy
One year after a fatal bus accident in Mumbai, the driving licence of the driver, Sanjay More, remains active due to undelivered notices and legal procedures requiring him to be heard. Despite multiple attempts by Mumbai's RTO, More's judicial custody has hindered the licence revocation process.

One year has passed since a tragic bus accident in Mumbai's Kurla area that claimed nine lives and injured 40 others, yet the driving licence of the responsible driver, Sanjay More, has not been revoked. The delay stems from undelivered show-cause notices and the necessity for More to be heard before canceling his licence.
The Maharashtra Motor Vehicles Department (MMVD) began the revocation process according to the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, a few days after the incident. However, repeated attempts by the Wadala Regional Transport Office to serve notices to More's residential address have failed due to his incarceration, causing procedural delays.
The Mumbai police had earlier requested More's licence be revoked in light of the severity of the accident. The process, however, mandates More's opportunity to present his defence in compliance with legal protocols, a step that highlights the delicate balance between justice and procedural correctness.
