Boeing's New Proposal Strikes Positive Chord with Spirit AeroSystems Workers
Boeing and the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA) have reached a tentative agreement on a collective bargaining contract for Spirit AeroSystems workers. The proposal promises improved medical and dental benefits, increased wage pools, and more time off, pending employee approval by January 30.
Boeing and the union representing Spirit AeroSystems' white-collar workers have reached a tentative collective bargaining agreement. The exclusive offer extends better medical and dental benefits plus additional vacation time for the workforce.
The Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA) unanimously recommended members approve the proposal. The deal comes after Boeing's $4.7 billion acquisition of the Wichita, Kansas-based supplier.
Union voting on the proposal, which includes a 20% increase in wage pools and a $6,000 ratification bonus, ends on January 30. Employment representatives praised Boeing's offer but noted previous negotiation frustrations.
