British Airways Holds Steady on Ticket Prices Amid Fuel Hedging

British Airways-owner IAG has announced it won't be raising ticket prices for now, thanks to hedged fuel purchases. This decision contrasts with other airlines like Scandinavian carrier SAS, which may need to increase prices due to oil price spikes caused by the Iran conflict.

British Airways' parent company, IAG, has confirmed that it does not plan to increase ticket prices in the near future. A spokesperson expressed this decision to Reuters on Tuesday, crediting the company's strategic fuel hedging for short- to mid-term stability.

This stance is in contrast to other airlines, such as Scandinavian carrier SAS. Recently, SAS indicated that an increase in ticket prices might be inevitable to counteract the rising oil prices prompted by escalating tensions in Iran.

The disparity in response underlines how different airlines are navigating the volatile oil market, with IAG's hedging providing a temporary cushion against the fluctuations.
