Amid an escalating crisis in West Asia, the hospitality and industrial sectors in Jharkhand are facing significant disruptions due to a shortage of commercial LPG cylinders. Panic and uncertainty have gripped hotel and restaurant owners as supply halts could lead to scaled-back operations, limited services, and economic distress.
Over 5,000 hotels and numerous restaurants across the state rely heavily on these cylinders, and the scarcity is driving prices up to nearly Rs 3,000 per cylinder, compared to the official Rs 1,700. Arvinder Singh Khurana of the FJCCI highlighted the unsustainable conditions, warning that services might be reduced to serving only breakfast and tea using alternative cooking methods.
The ripple effect extends beyond hospitality, affecting industrial units that depend on LPG for critical manufacturing processes. The Adityapur Small Industries Association has appealed for government action, stressing the potential chain reaction in production if supply is not restored. The crisis poses severe threats to both small businesses and larger economic stability.
