Jet Fuel Prices on the Rise Amid Global Energy Surge
The price of Aviation Turbine Fuel, or jet fuel, for international airlines has increased by 5% due to the global surge in energy prices. While prices for domestic airlines remain unchanged, the hike reflects a second consecutive monthly increase as oil companies adjust rates in response to international benchmarks.
Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices for international airlines have risen by 5% following a global surge in energy prices, marking the second consecutive monthly increase. This strategic decision, passed on Friday, highlights the calibrated approach oil companies are adopting amid fluctuating market conditions.
In contrast, domestic airlines have been spared any change to ATF prices, despite the international hike. According to state-owned oil firms, the price in Delhi, home to India's busiest airport, now stands at USD 1511.86 per kilolitre, following a USD 76.55 hike.
The decision stems from a deregulation policy enacted over two decades ago, aligning local rates with international benchmarks. However, the recent crisis in West Asia has prompted the most significant ATF price increase to date, pushing authorities to moderate the impact on domestic airlines.
