Panchayati Raj Leaders Attend IIM Bodh Gaya Programme for Enhanced Governance

A five-day management development programme aimed at elected representatives and functionaries of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) from eight states kicked off at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Bodh Gaya on Monday.
Hosted by the Union Ministry of Panchayati Raj in partnership with IIM Bodh Gaya, the programme will continue until September 6. Attendees include officials from Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.
The central ministry's statement reveals that this initiative is designed for PRI representatives, including panchayat presidents, vice-presidents, pramukhs, sarpanchs, and other officials. Its goal is to boost leadership, management, and governance skills. The curriculum covers a wide array of topics such as ethics, rural innovation, Own Source Revenue (OSR), and Artificial Intelligence (AI). A significant focus is placed on OSR to ensure financial sustainability and enhance the capabilities of panchayats. The programme also aims to introduce participants to advanced management theories, tools, and skills, aiming to infuse corporate-level professionalism into rural governance.
