Educational Institutions in Punjab Shut Amid Border Tensions
Punjab and Haryana governments have ordered the temporary closure of educational institutions due to rising tensions at the India-Pakistan border. The Punjab government has mandated the closure of all educational institutions for the following three days in response to the increasing tensions along the India-Pakistan border.
Officials in the Union Territory of Chandigarh, serving as the joint capital of both Punjab and Haryana, have declared that all schools will remain closed until Saturday.
Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains announced on social media that all government, private, and aided schools, colleges, and universities across Punjab will remain shut, citing the evolving situation. In Haryana, educational institutions in Panchkula will be closed on Friday and Saturday.
Panjab University in Chandigarh has rescheduled exams initially set for May 9, 10, and 12, with new dates to be announced later. With schools in border districts closed and police personnel on high alert, Punjab remains vigilant following recent actions at the border. The state enforced blackouts in various cities, including Pathankot, Mohali, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, and Chandigarh.
