Shikshagraha Movement Gains Momentum with CWS Partnership
The Shikshagraha movement aims to enhance India's public schools by promoting environmental awareness. Partnering with the Centre for Wildlife Studies, it seeks to embed environmental consciousness into education quality. Launches include the Wild Shaale Educator's Guidebook and resources to support small educational improvements.
The Shikshagraha movement, an initiative to transform public schools in India, has taken a significant step forward by welcoming the Centre for Wildlife Studies (CWS) as a key contributor. During the Shiksha Samvaad event in Bangalore, CWS's involvement symbolizes a heightened focus on environmental consciousness in education.
The collaboration marks the release of the Wild Shaale Educator's Guidebook, an activity-based manual designed to integrate environmental learning into Karnataka's school curriculum. This guide, crafted from extensive field experience, offers practical activities that engage students with nature and local wildlife, implementing environmental awareness into everyday schooling.
Additional resources, such as the Education Toolkit, offer operational frameworks for teachers, aiding the integration of the guidebook into classroom settings. As Shruti Shibulal of Shikshagraha emphasizes, investing in environmental education strengthens communities by fostering sustainable livelihoods and responsible citizenship.
