The Supreme Court has intervened in a prolonged deadlock between Kerala's chief minister and governor over the appointment of vice chancellors in two technical universities. The court mandated a committee, chaired by Justice (retd) Sudhanshu Dhulia, to recommend one name for each post in an effort to resolve the impasse.
During a hearing on Thursday, the court instructed that names be submitted in a sealed cover by next Wednesday, with further discussions scheduled for December 18. Despite efforts to reach a consensus, tensions between the state's administrative leaders remain high regarding the procedural appointment stalemate.
The ongoing dispute has prompted legal scrutiny, aiming to circumvent protracted administrative inertia. While discussions continue between the involved parties, the Supreme Court's directive represents a crucial step towards resolution, potentially influencing the governance dynamics in Kerala's academic institutions.
