An incident involving the alleged assault of a 22-year-old postgraduate student from Assam at the Indira Gandhi National Tribal University (IGNTU) has led to the expulsion of five students and heightened national debates on hate crimes, an official reported.
The altercation, alleged to have been racially motivated, resulted in injuries to the victim, Hiros Jyoti Das, and was promptly met with disciplinary action and legal proceedings, amid growing public concern over similar incidents, including the recent death of Anjel Chakma in Dehradun.
The Madhya Pradesh Congress has criticized the ruling BJP for the lack of effective measures in handling such issues, further stirring political discourse on the responsibilities of educational institutions and authorities to prevent racially and communal charged events.
