Minister of State for Minority Welfare Danish Azad Ansari announced that the scheme's termination in 2023-24 had left thousands without jobs. Discussions are underway to find ways to reintegrate them into the madrasa system, acknowledging their impactful role since the scheme's inception in 1995.
The scheme, launched by the Centre to introduce modern subjects to madrasas, saw its funding discontinued, leaving teachers without salaries. The government's adjustment plan has been welcomed by teachers' representatives who see it as a crucial step towards addressing their plight.
