Modi to Launch Women-Centric 'Subhadra Yojana' in Odisha

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is poised to launch the 'Subhadra Yojana,' a BJP initiative aimed at empowering women in the state of Odisha. The scheme promises Rs 50,000 to each eligible woman over five years. The launch aligns with BJP's commitment during the elections.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Odisha on September 17 to inaugurate the 'Subhadra Yojana,' an ambitious initiative by the BJP government aimed at women's empowerment, announced Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday.

Speaking to the media after visiting the Jagannath temple in Puri, the Union Education Minister revealed that Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and the state's two deputy CMs had extended an invitation to the Prime Minister, which he accepted.

'We had pledged during the elections to provide Rs 50,000 to each woman for their empowerment, and the Odia people have shown their trust in us,' said Pradhan. The scheme will benefit over one crore women in the BPL category, aged between 26-60, with Rs 10,000 annually for five years. Additionally, a high-level ASI team will soon inspect the Ratna Bhandar treasury at Jagannath temple at the Odisha government's request.

The BJP government intends to modernize Puri into a spiritual city, as part of its development plans, Pradhan noted. The Union minister, who is from Odisha, is on a three-day visit to the state.
