Chile's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alberto van Klaveren, seized the opportunity to fortify the relationship between Chile and India during his official visit from August 27-31. Invited by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, van Klaveren's trip provided avenues to review and deepen bilateral cooperation.
On August 28, van Klaveren and Jaishankar took the helm at the second India-Chile Joint Commission Meeting, engaging in extensive discussions to bolster cooperation in multiple sectors including trade, agriculture, digital public infrastructure, and defense. The duo also met with Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal to deliberate on the future of bilateral trade and economic relations.
Complementing diplomatic conversations, van Klaveren's itinerary included delivering a lecture on Chile's foreign policy at Jawaharlal Nehru University and engaging with business leaders in Mumbai. His efforts culminated in a 'Shooting in Chile' event, spotlighting Chile as an enticing destination for Indian filmmakers.
