Call for Unity: Dattatreya Hosabale Advocates for 'Bharat' as the Sole Name

  • India

During a recent book launch event in Noida, RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale made a compelling case for India to adopt 'Bharat' as its sole official name. He questioned the duality of having two names, one in Hindi and another in English, pointing to the Constitution and Reserve Bank as examples where 'Bharat' is already used.

Hosabale invoked the words of philosopher Aurobindo Ghosh, emphasizing India's potential to become a 'lighthouse of the world' rather than a nation acting out of self-interest. He stressed the importance of societal readiness to embrace and project this vision globally, warning that without it, efforts would be meaningless.

Drawing attention to academia, Hosabale argued for a shift in university curricula toward subjects that offer employment, while also underscoring the necessity of intellectual and cultural development. He maintained that universities should focus on fostering civilizational growth as part of nation-building efforts.
