The Union Environment Minister, Bhupender Yadav, has defended the recent MoU between Delhi's National Zoological Park and the Gujarat-based Vantara, amidst claims of potential privatisation. He dismissed the backlash as noise from 'habitual doubt-creators' and clarified that it's a standard practice in zoological collaborations.

Yadav highlighted that both NZP and the Central Zoo Authority have historically entered into agreements with various entities to enhance conservation, research, and animal care. The new MoU is meant to update and expand on these efforts, with a focus on veterinary support, conservation education, and modernising facilities.

Despite concerns from Congress leader Jairam Ramesh about a lack of transparency and possible zoo privatisation, Yadav assured that the agreement will not transfer any ownership or control. Vantara officials echoed this, reinforcing that the objective is purely collaborative and in public interest.
