Tragedy Strikes: Pilgrim's Fatal Plunge into Yamuna River

A 62-year-old pilgrim from Maharashtra, Bhagwan Shankar, tragically died after jumping into the Yamuna river in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand. Despite rescue efforts by police and SDRF officials, he was declared dead at a local health center. The reasons behind his actions remain unknown.

A tragic incident unfolded in Uttarakhand's Uttarkashi district as a 62-year-old pilgrim from Maharashtra met a fatal end after jumping into the Yamuna river.

Identified as Bhagwan Shankar, the pilgrim was en route to the Yamunotri temple when he took the leap near Phoolchatti, according to the district disaster management office. Quick response from police and SDRF personnel enabled their swift arrival on the scene, where they managed to retrieve Shankar from the waters.

However, despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Jankichatti health center. Authorities are yet to ascertain the motive behind his actions.
