A lioness named Daisy sparked panic in Dhaka when she escaped from the zoo for over two and a half hours before being recaptured. The incident unfolded on Friday, causing alarm among visitors and prompting a swift evacuation of the premises.
Zoo officials faced significant challenges in their efforts to locate the lioness within the six-feet-high netted compound, as darkness fell and obstacles like trees hindered their attempts to use tranquillisers. Eventually, Daisy was found and sedated, safely returning to her cage.
Intriguingly, both locks on the lion's secured cage were discovered open, leading Zoo Director Mohammad Rafiqul Islam Talukder to suspect sabotage. An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the breach.
