Seer Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati has announced a sweeping 81-day campaign starting May 3 to advocate for the cow to be designated as 'rashtra mata' (national mother) and to impose a nationwide ban on cow slaughter. The initiative, named 'Kavishti Yatra', will commence in Gorakhpur and conclude there on July 23, mobilizing support across villages in Uttar Pradesh.
The seer emphasized that the campaign aims to rectify what he describes as discrepancies between public claims and the actual situation of cow protection. Addressing a gathering in Lucknow, he pointed to a shifting support landscape, reportedly driven by political influences, yet maintained the non-political nature of the initiative. The yatra will culminate with a major event at Kanshiram Smriti Upvan.
Swami Avimukteshwaranand highlighted the Uttar Pradesh government's historic budget allocation for cow welfare as a response to earlier advocacy efforts. He stressed the role of religious leaders in upholding Sanatan Dharma and guiding governance, noting that ordinary citizens often face challenges in voicing concerns due to potential repercussions. The campaign is billed as religiously motivated rather than politically aligned.
