The Central and Tripura governments on Wednesday inked a historic Memorandum of Settlement with the National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) and the All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) in New Delhi. The agreement was signed in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, and other key dignitaries.
Amit Shah lauded the peace pact, reflecting on the progress achieved in the northeast region since Prime Minister Narendra Modi took office. 'This is a moment of joy for us,' Shah said. 'After 35 years of struggle, these armed groups have laid down their weapons, opting instead to commit to the development of Tripura.'
The Union Minister also highlighted the infrastructural advancements bridging the gap between Delhi and the Northeast. 'PM Modi has not only improved road, rail, and air connectivity but has also united the people,' he noted. The accord is the 12th in the northeast and the third specific to Tripura, marking the surrender of approximately 300 armed militants. Tripura CM Manik Saha praised the leadership of both Shah and Modi in fostering peace and prosperity in the region.
