The Supreme Court has extended anticipatory bail to veteran Telugu actor and former MP Mohan Babu after being accused of assaulting a television journalist. This decision follows the Supreme Court's earlier interim protection against Babu's arrest.
In a hearing presided over by Justices Sudhanshu Dhuli and Ahsanuddin Amanullah, Babu's counsel refuted claims of threatening the journalist, pledging the actor's cooperation with authorities. The charge stems from an altercation where Babu allegedly hurled a wireless microphone at the journalist, causing significant injuries.
The apex court was informed that the altercation was linked to a family dispute with Babu's estranged son, who arrived with a large media entourage. Babu's counsel explained that the actor acted impulsively and expressed willingness to apologize publicly and compensate the injured journalist.
