In a controversial move, three government employees in Jammu and Kashmir were terminated due to alleged terror connections. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah stated that he supports the decision, led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, as long as the accused were allowed to present their defenses before the final verdict was given.
Abdullah emphasized the importance of due process, stressing that individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty, and they should be given the opportunity to defend themselves in court. The tenure of the terminated employees spans various departments, including the police and forest sector.
Simultaneously, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has raised concerns over the deportation of Indians from the U.S., alleging a deliberate focus on Punjabis. He accused the central government of defamation tactics against Punjab, suggesting military planes landing in Amritsar serve a larger agenda.
