The Jammu and Kashmir Itihad-ul-Muslimeen (JKIM), linked to Masroor Abbas Ansari, has been outlawed by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) due to activities deemed a threat to national integrity, according to a statement from Baramulla authorities released on Thursday. The group is connected to militancy, stone-pelting on security forces, and inciting unrest against the Union of India. Consequently, the Government of India issued Notification No. 14017/1/2025/NI-MFO on March 11, 2025, declaring it unlawful.

Despite the ban, reliable intelligence reports suggest that certain JKIM leaders and members persist in anti-national efforts. They are accused of stirring the public against the nation and disseminating misinformation and hatred. The police in Pattan have responded by registering Case FIR No. 45/2025 under Sections 10 and 13 of the UAPA and Sections 147 and 148 of the BNS.

The statement indicates that further investigations are in progress. Baramulla Police have called on the public to assist in maintaining law and order by reporting activities that threaten peace and national security. (ANI)
