Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in a pivotal workshop on water conservation held under the Jal Sanrakshan Abhiyan 2025 at the Chief Minister's residence, according to an official release Friday. During this event, the Bhagirath mobile app was unveiled, embodying the campaign's core message: 'My Stream, My Spring, My Village, My Effort.'

The innovative app empowers citizens to pinpoint critical and endangered water sources in their regions, allowing the government to focus rejuvenation efforts accordingly. Chief Minister Dhami emphasized the role of the Spring and River Rejuvenation Authority (SARA), established to safeguard water sources like Naulas, Dharaas, and rain-fed rivers, which last year stored 3.12 million cubic meters of rainwater and treated over 6500 water sources.

Notably, SARA is preparing a detailed project report with IIT Roorkee and NIH Roorkee to revitalize several state rivers such as Nayar, Song, Uttarvahini Shipra, and Gauri utilizing a scientifically grounded approach. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, the state pursues water conservation dynamically, with public engagement playing a crucial role in elevating Uttarakhand's development trajectory over the next decade.
