Himachal Pradesh Unveils Comprehensive Relief Package Amid Disaster Aftermath

In a significant move, Himachal Pradesh's cabinet, led by CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, approved a robust relief plan for disaster-hit families. Compensation for various damages, including homes and livestock, was significantly increased, with additional efforts in forest conservation and healthcare improvements also approved during the meeting.

In a decisive meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the Himachal Pradesh state cabinet on Monday announced a substantial relief package to aid disaster-affected families. The cabinet approved increasing compensation for completely destroyed houses from Rs 1.30 lakh to Rs seven lakh, reflecting a marked boost in state support.

Compensation for partially damaged houses now stands at one lakh rupees, up from Rs 12,500, while the aid for damaged shops or dhabas has surged from Rs 10,000 to one lakh rupees. Additional relief includes Rs 50,000 for damaged cowsheds and special compensation for lost belongings, both for owners and tenants.

On the administrative front, the cabinet embraced the Rajiv Gandhi Van Samvardhan Yojna, a Rs 100 crore effort for forest conservation through community involvement. Healthcare infrastructure sees upgrades with new posts in IGMC's Pain and Palliative Care Cell, alongside crucial amendments in election rules to streamline municipal processes.
