Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilisers, Anupriya Patel, clarified in the Lok Sabha that companies are free to import phosphatic and potassium fertilizers based on their strategic needs. She dismissed concerns over halted exports impacting Indian farmers, noting that 'speciality fertilizers' do not fall under specific regulatory classifications.

Water-soluble fertilizers remain crucial for cash and horticultural crops, yet are not subsidized under the current government's Nutrient-Based Subsidy (NBS) Scheme, calling for a more nuanced approach to managing India's fertilizer strategy.
