Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has announced the reopening of investigations into historical Pakistan-sponsored terrorist cases affecting civilians. This initiative aims to bring long-awaited justice to the families of victims who have lived in uncertainty for years.
Speaking at the Convention Centre in Jammu, Sinha expressed respect for the true victims of terrorism. He revealed that 41,949 individuals had fallen victim to terrorism in the region by 2019, largely due to a persistent terrorist presence. By distributing appointment letters to next of kin, the government seeks to empower these families to rebuild their lives.
Sinha urged for a break from the past, specifically addressing the lack of action from previous administrations. He assured the public that the current government would not allow terrorists to go unpunished. Stressing the importance of community support, he called on citizens to speak up against terrorism, ensuring the backing of the J&K Police and Administration. Rehabilitation efforts for victims' families are also being prioritized.
