Union Minister Ramdas Athawale revealed on Wednesday that the Republican Party of India (Athawale) is actively negotiating with Maharashtra's Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for vital political seats. The party is seeking 5-6 seats from a list of 17, underscoring its critical role in state elections.

Athawale confirmed the RPI(A) has put forward a request for one MLC seat and two chairman positions in state corporations. Additionally, the party is asking for representation in upcoming district council and panchayat elections, aiming for 50-60 members across districts.

The recent discussions, impacted by prior negotiations with Shiv Sena's Eknath Shinde, highlighted RPI(A)'s political strategies and expectations. Assurances for post-election considerations have been given, fostering RPI(A)'s alliance with the BJP to strengthen its influence in Maharashtra's political arena.
