In a controversial move, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Sambit Patra levied serious accusations against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday. Patra claimed that Banerjee is attempting to halt the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in the state by employing violent tactics.
During a press conference held in the national capital, Patra accused the Trinamool Congress (TMC) of shielding illegal immigrants, particularly Rohingyas and Bangladeshis. He pointed to a specific incident at the Block Development Office in Farakka, where an alleged attack occurred in the presence of TMC MLA Manirul Islam.
Patra didn't stop there; he alleged that a Booth Level Officer in Jadavpur had ended his life due to threats from TMC workers. The BJP MP criticized Banerjee's governance, accusing her of fostering a climate of fear and divisiveness in West Bengal and questioned whether her appeasement politics was isolating the state from the rest of India.
