Polish pipeline operator Gaz-System is increasing gas transmission capacity to Ukraine. This move comes amid persistent Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure. From February to April, capacity will rise from 600,000 to 720,000 cubic metres per hour.
The capacity enhancement is feasible due to a modernisation project at the metering station in Hermanowice. This important upgrade was completed in December, allowing for an increased flow of gas to aid Ukraine.
This effort by Gaz-System is critical as Ukraine grapples with daily energy sector assaults from Russia, threatening its electricity and gas production capabilities.
