Ukraine's Drone Offensive: Turning the Tide on Russian Oil Infrastructure
Ukraine has launched a significant drone offensive targeting Russian infrastructure, including oil terminals and naval vessels. President Zelenskiy emphasized the strategic aim of limiting Russia's wartime capabilities. Russia remains unfazed, with the Kremlin noting potential impacts on global oil prices as a result of these strikes.
Ukraine escalated its strategic strikes against Russia on Sunday, utilizing a wave of drone attacks that targeted key infrastructures and naval assets. Notable targets included the Baltic Sea port of Primorsk, where fires erupted, and an oil tanker was hit, significantly damaging the port's capacity.
President Volodymyr Zelenskiy highlighted that the strikes, which also downed a Karakurt-class missile ship and a patrol boat, serve to limit Russia's war capabilities. Local authorities reported over 60 drones neutralized overnight, with threats to significant Russian oil export routes.
Despite these attacks, Russian officials appeared unfazed, suggesting oil prices might surge if Ukraine persists with its offensive. While regional drone attacks caused civilian casualties, Russian forces are pressing their advancements in the eastern Donetsk region.
