Gadkari Inspects Spiritual Highway Projects in Pune, Focuses on Sustainability and Affordability

The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, conducted an on-site inspection of the Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi Marg and Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi Marg highways in Pune on Friday. Gadkari stressed that these projects extend beyond mere road construction, carrying a deep spiritual resonance and an emphasis on sustainability.
Gadkari revealed ongoing tree plantation initiatives along the routes, including the planting of 'Vriksha Vallabh' species. Speaking to reporters, he stated, "This initiative is not just about constructing a road; it is a spiritual journey and a manifestation of our unwavering beliefs. Our goal is to establish these as 'green' corridors, embedding them within the spiritual and ecological fabric of the area."
Highlighting affordability, Gadkari noted the introduction of a toll pass system costing Rs 3,000 for up to 200 crossings, reducing the per-trip expense to Rs 15. He detailed, "We are keen on precision in the tree plantation process, having tagged 40,000 trees with plans to plant 45,000 more. The toll pass initiative makes regular crossings economically viable for the public."
