In a decisive move to enhance its security infrastructure, the Haryana government has announced the formation of an Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) under its Criminal Investigation Department (CID). As per the notification by the Home Department, this specialized agency aims to combat terrorism and rigorously investigate related offenses across the state.

The notification, issued by Additional Chief Secretary Sudhir Rajpal, underscores that two new ATS police stations are set up in Panchkula and Gurugram, acting as epicenters for counter-terrorism activities. These stations will function under the leadership of an Inspector General of Police, reporting up the chain to the Director General of Police via the CID chief.

The creation of the ATS is seen as a strategic enhancement to Haryana's law enforcement capabilities. Concentrated efforts at the Panchkula headquarters, along with precise jurisdiction mapping for the two stations, are designed to streamline and fortify the state’s response to terror threats.
