Health Minister JP Nadda has reaffirmed the government's dedication to providing affordable and accessible cancer treatment, especially amid the growing number of cases in India.
Responding to questions in the Lok Sabha, Nadda highlighted that cancer cases are increasing by nearly 2.5% annually, with over 15.5 lakh cases reported each year.
Nadda detailed that essential cancer medicines and some additional drug combinations are price-controlled by the government, leading to significant cost savings for patients. Additionally, the government is boosting healthcare infrastructure by expanding medical colleges and increasing MBBS and postgraduate seats.
