First Case of Guillain-Barre Syndrome in Nashik Sparks Health Alert
Nashik has reported its first case of Guillain-Barre Syndrome in a 60-year-old man. The condition, which causes the immune system to attack peripheral nerves, has been reported in 250 cases in Maharashtra, with 12 fatalities. The public is advised to seek immediate medical attention if symptoms appear.

A 60-year-old resident of Nashik's Pathardi Phata area has been diagnosed with the city's first case of Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS). Currently under treatment at a state-run district hospital, the patient was initially admitted to a private facility but was transferred when his condition deteriorated.
Dr. Tanaji Chavan, chief medical officer of Nashik Municipal Corporation, has urged citizens not to panic and advised those experiencing symptoms to visit nearby hospitals for a check-up.
Guillain-Barre Syndrome is a rare condition where the immune system attacks peripheral nerves, leading to muscle weakness, sensory loss in the limbs, and potential respiratory difficulties. To date, 250 cases have been reported in Maharashtra, with the majority in Pune and Solapur districts. Tragically, the disease has claimed 12 lives in the region.
