The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration issued an urgent appeal to cease the sale and use of a specific Coldrif syrup batch after child fatalities in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. These tragic incidents have reportedly been linked to the medicine's consumption.
In an earlier report on October 2, Tamil Nadu drug control authorities identified the Coldrif syrup sample, batch SR-13, as adulterated. Manufactured by Sresan Pharmaceuticals, the syrup contained 48.6% diethylene glycol, a toxic substance posing a significant health risk.
Authorities are diligently collaborating with distributors across Maharashtra, aiming to recall affected stocks. Meanwhile, public warnings urge vigilance, advising any possession of the suspect batch to be reported to local drug authorities immediately.
