New Delhi: The Union Minister of State for Health, Anupriya Patel, on Tuesday addressed concerns regarding the availability of essential anti-tuberculosis drugs, confidently stating that there is no shortage of critical medications like Rifampicin and Ethambutol in central and state warehouses.
Patel reassured the Rajya Sabha in response to inquiries about drug shortages and delays in the tender process by the Central Tuberculosis Division. Measures have been put in place under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme, establishing a rate contract for all drugs, including modern regimens, from 2025 to 2027, ensuring adequate supply and buffer stock.
The government has bolstered the drug supply chain with timely indent submissions, real-time tracking via the DVDMS, and comprehensive field supervision. Enhanced coordination with suppliers ensures the timely supply of drugs and necessary diagnostics, underscoring the commitment to eliminating tuberculosis nationwide.
