In a significant crackdown, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended Purushottam Lal Choudhary, the General Manager of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) stationed in Chattarpur, Madhya Pradesh, for allegedly accepting a Rs 10 lakh bribe.

Officials reported on Sunday that Choudhary, alongside six others—including an NHAI Consultant, his Resident Engineer, and four employees of a private company—were taken into custody on Saturday evening.

Sources close to the investigation revealed that the accused were implicated in receiving bribes pertaining to the final handover, issuance of a no-objection certificate, and processing the final bill for the Jhansi-Khajuraho Project awarded to the implicated private company by NHAI.
