Amit Shah Assures Flood-Affected States of Central Support
Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke with the chief ministers of Assam, Uttar Pradesh, and Gujarat to assess the flood situation and assured them of all possible central assistance. Over 100 lives were lost in Assam and many villages were affected in Uttar Pradesh due to floods and heavy rains.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday connected with the chief ministers of Assam, Uttar Pradesh, and Gujarat to evaluate the dire flood situations and heavy rains impacting these states, offering all necessary central assistance, according to sources.
During a telephonic conversation with Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, Shah enquired about the flood's impact, where Sarma provided a detailed briefing on the current state and measures taken so far, sources indicated.
Shah also reached out to Uttar Pradesh's Yogi Adityanath and Gujarat's Bhupendra Patel to gauge the situation due to rising river levels. Shah assured these leaders of comprehensive support from the Central government to manage the crisis, sources reported.
The flood toll in Assam stands at 109 fatalities, affecting over 597,600 people spanning numerous districts. In Uttar Pradesh, floods impacted nearly 1,500 villages across 22 districts, with several rain-related casualties.
